Through the lens.

A running journal from the road — places, light, and moments that seemed worth keeping. Photography has been part of my life in many forms, from professional wedding work to travel shots grabbed between flights.

Wedding Photography.

For over a decade I worked as a professional wedding photographer, first as a second shooter (with Cape Breton's John Ratchford), learning the craft under pressure, then building my own clientele across Nova Scotia and beyond. It was some of the most demanding and rewarding work I have ever done.

Weddings are unscripted. You have one chance at every moment — the first look, the father’s face, the quiet in between. That kind of work sharpens you fast. It taught me to see light differently, to anticipate rather than react, and to disappear into a room while still catching everything in it.

I stepped back from professional photography in 2020 to focus on other things, but the eye never really turns off. Everything since — the travel shots, the candids, the gallery below — is downstream of those twelve years behind the camera at someone else’s most important day.
